Artfully drape them around a window, suspend them from the ceiling, craft them into your own design on the wall and more. Fall in love with your bedroom again by decorating it with these bedroom string light ideas.
How to decorate with string lights
When using string lights for decorating a bedroom, it's best to start by figuring out the design. Consider the atmosphere you want to achieve, identify the areas and objects that need to be covered and the pattern you wish to create.
Once you have an idea in mind, make a rough estimation of the length you need the lights to be. Festavia string lights are available in three versatile sizes: 8 metres (26.2 feet) with 100 lights, 20 metres (65.6 feet) with 250 lights, and 40 metres (131.2 feet) with 500 lights.
How to hang string lights in the bedroom
Hanging string lights in the bedroom is simple. Depending on your design, you may need adhesive hooks, transparent tape, small nails, removable adhesive strips or nothing at all.
If you’re using adhesives, clean and dry the area before placing them according to the shape of your design.
For those who prefer to wrap string lights around bedroom fixtures such as headboards, mirrors and curtain rods, make sure they’re safe for the string lights. Don't forget to check that the fixtures can support their weight and distribution too.
Is it safe to leave string lights on all night?
Leaving indoor LED string lights such as Festavia on overnight is relatively safe compared to other types of lighting. LEDs are known for their energy efficiency and low heat generation, which reduces the risk of fire hazards. However, it is always best to exercise caution and follow safety guidelines, so here are some tips:
- Check for damage: Regularly inspect the lights for any signs of damage, such as exposed wires or broken bulbs.
- Avoid covering the lights: Try not to cover the LED string lights with any flammable materials, such as fabric or paper, as this can trap heat.
- Use automations to turn off: To enhance safety, you can use automations to automatically turn the lights off. Find them in the Automations tab of the Hue app!
- Wake up and Go to sleep with light: Use the Wake up and Go to sleep automations to wake gently and go to bed feeling more relaxed.
What are fairy lights?
Fairy lights are a form of decorative lighting often used in the bedroom. They feature a string of lights evenly distributed along a wire. Sound familiar? They’re essentially a type of string light. Traditionally reserved for celebrations, fairy lights have now found their way into everyday decor, where they can be elegantly hung on fixtures or delicately wrapped around objects.
What is the difference between string lights and fairy lights?
The term string lights, fairy lights and even twinkle lights, are used interchangeably to describe decorative lights. While there might be slight differences in the terminology, they generally refer to the same type of lighting used for adding a charming and decorative touch to a space.
