Can I temporarily disable the indoor motion sensor?

Yes! You can disable it in the Philips Hue app:  

  1. Go to the Settings tab. 
  2. Tap Accessories. 
  3. Toggle the sensor you want to disable to the "off" position. 

To turn it back on, toggle it back on. 

Can I use the indoor motion sensor outside?

The motion sensor is for indoor use only. However, the Philips Hue outdoor sensor is weatherproof and suitable for use outside.

What does the LED indicator on the indoor motion sensor mean?

The LED indicator is integrated into the housing of the indoor motion sensor, just below the dome. The LED displays different colors:  

  • Orange blinking: Ready to connect to the Bridge 
  • Green blinking: Found by the Philips Hue app 
  • Short orange flash when detecting motion: Low battery*
  • Short red flash when detecting motion: Battery is almost empty*
  • Long red flash when detecting motion: Sensor cannot communicate with the Bridge

*Only shown at first detection of motion after at least 15 seconds with none. 

Can I change the sensitivity of the indoor motion sensor?

If you've already added your motion sensor to your smart lighting system, you can adjust its sensitivity in the Philips Hue app: 

  1. Go to the Settings tab. 
  2. Tap Accessories. 
  3. Select the motion sensor. 
  4. Tap Motion sensitivity at the bottom of the screen to change the sensitivity. 

To test the sensitivity you can use the LED indicator:

The indoor motion sensor’s LED indicator will turn on when it detects movement and turn off after no motion has been detected for five seconds.

What kind of battery do I need for the indoor motion sensor?

The indoor motion sensor uses two AAA batteries.

*When a bulb displays "Up to" a certain number of lumens in its specifications, it displays the maximum lumen output of the bulb. It shows how bright the bulb can get at 2700 K (White bulbs) or 4000 K (White ambiance or White and color ambiance bulbs). Learn more about brightness
