What is a Hue account?
How do I create a Hue account?
You can create a Hue account two ways: in the Hue app or online.
In the Hue app, go to Settings > Account and follow the on-screen instructions.
In your web browser, go to www.account.philips-hue.com and click Sign up.
How do I reset the password for my Hue account?
If you've forgotten the password to your Hue account, you can select Forgot password from the login screen in both the Hue app or www.account.philips-hue.com.
If you used social login with Google or Apple to sign in to your Hue account, you'll need to change your password for that third-party partner.
I tried to reset the password to my Hue account, but I never received an email. What should I do?
If you didn't receive an email, it could be because of one of these reasons:
- It was mistakenly sent to your spam folder. Check the folder and mark the email as "Not spam."
- You may have made a typo when typing in your email address after clicking on the Forgot password link. Try again, and be sure your email is correct.
- You used social login to create your Hue account. If this is the case, you'll need to sign in with Apple or Google. In this situation, you can't use the Forgot password link to recover your password.
- You don't have a Hue account yet. Go to www.account.philips-hue.com and select Sign up to create a new account.
I created a Hue account but never received a verification email. What should I do?
If you didn't receive an email, it could be because of one of these reasons:

If I used social login to create my Hue account, can I change my sign in credentials to my email and a password?
If you used social login to create your Hue account, you cannot switch your credentials to your email and password. If you want to switch your sign in credentials, you'll need to make a new Hue account.
What is two-factor authentication, and how can I enable it?
Enabling two-factor authentication adds a layer of security to your account by asking you to verify your sign in with a unique code. You can set up two-factor authentication in your Hue account:
- Sign in to your account
- Go to Settings & preferences
- In the Login & security section, select Enable under Two-factor authentication and follow the on-screen instructions
Can I change the email address I use to sign in to my Hue account?
You cannot change the email address you use to sign in to your Hue account. If you want to use another email address, you'll need to create a new account.
Can I use my Hue account while using VPN services or other services such as Apple iCloud Private Relay?
You can use VPN services — just make sure you're not connected to the VPN if you have to push the button on your Bridge while setting it up for the first time.
What happens if I delete my Hue account?
Deleting your Hue account removes your personal data, permissions you've granted to third-party apps, and any purchase data linked to your account. It will also sign you out of any device that account is signed in to. Once you delete your account, you cannot recover it.
You can delete your Hue account in your account settings:
- Sign in to your Hue account
- Go to Settings & preferences
- Under the Data & privacy section, select Delete account and follow the on-screen instructions.
How do I transfer my Hue account to a new Bridge?
First, remove the previous Bridge from your Home in your Hue account settings. Then, add the new Bridge to your Home in the Hue app:
- Go to Settings > My Hue system
- Tap the blue plus icon
- Follow the on-screen instructions to add your Bridge
All existing users and permissions will stay the same.
What's the difference between the different permissions for users in a Home?
- Lighting permissions: Can control of the lights in a Home.
- Security: basic permissions: Can control the lights in a Home and arm and disarm its Secure system.
- Security: advanced permissions: Can control the lights in a Home, arm and disarm its Secure system, view camera feeds and recordings, and receive push notifications for security events.
- Administrator permissions: Has full access to all controls and settings in a Home, and can delete the Home, add or remove a Bridge, add or remove other users, and change users' permissions.
What happens if I reset my Bridge?
If you perform a factory reset on your Bridge, it will be removed from the Home as soon as an internet connection is established.
All existing permissions for members within the home (including yourself) will continue to remain the same.
Can I connect multiple Bridges to my Hue account?
Currently, you can connect one Bridge to your Hue account. If you have more than one Bridge, you'll need to create a separate account for each of them.
How do I remove an unused smart device from my Philips Hue system?
You can delete a smart device from your Philips Hue system via your Hue account. To revoke permissions from a smart device, go to www.philips-hue.com, click Account, and then log in to your account. Once you are logged in, click Applications at the top of the page. This will display the devices that are currently connected to your Hue system. From there, you can click Deactivate to remove the device.
