What Philips Hue products do I need to sync my lights with my TV, music, or games?

What Philips Hue products do I need to sync my lights with my TV, music, or games?

It depends on how you want to sync your lights, but you’ll always need at least three things:

  • Philips Hue Bridge
  • Philips Hue app
  • At least one color-capable Philips Hue light (White and color ambiance)

You will also need one of the following:

  •  Philips Hue Play HDMI sync box (to sync with your TV)
  •  Philips Hue Sync TV app (to sync with certain TVs)
  •  Philips Hue Sync desktop app (to sync with a computer)
  •  Spotify account (to sync with music played on Spotify)

Which platforms are compatible with the Philips Hue Sync apps?

The Philips Hue Sync TV app can be used with 2022 or newer Samsung QLED TVs.

The Philips Hue Sync desktop app can be used with Mac OS and Windows.

What should I consider when deciding which Philips Hue Sync app I should use?

The biggest consideration is what you want to sync. The Philips Hue Sync TV app is an app on a TV itself. This means that you can sync any content played on your TV.

The Sync desktop app syncs content on a computer monitor. Keep in mind that some streaming services (such as Netflix) protect their content, and syncing is unavailable for these services when using the Sync desktop app.

What kind of media can each app sync with?

Both the Philips Hue Sync desktop and TV apps can sync your lights with video, music, and games.
